I’ve wondered why one of the most natural things that we are created to do is considered evil, dirty, sinful, and taboo by so many, entrenched in their beliefs. I once read that it’s how we can control others — by denying them something fundamental to their humanity, we can channel their frustrations and anger through guilt into doing things we want them to. The pent-up energy is morphed into subservience, fanaticism, self-harm, destruction, and even violence. Makes sense.
